Mascota

We woke up in a lovely, colonial style hotel...

complete with funky, wooden folding windows onto the courtyard. The courtyard had a fountain built into one wall. The other three walls had overhangs like a veranda with exits into rooms. The courtyard contained many potted plants, some even flowering. There was a stained glass window in the stairwell. There were huge religious artifacts - Jesus on the cross and a Guadalupe shrine. One side of the courtyard had a room with a bar and a dining area. This whole design could translate well into a lovely home. Perhaps the second floor would not be needed. We were allowed to take pictures in the open rooms, wonderful self-guided tour of Meson De San Jose in Mascota, Jalisco, Mexico.

Since we did a quick investigation of Mascota last night we moved on to a Pueblo Magico called San Sebastian del Oeste. Google maps said it was about 45 minutes to that town from where we spent the night, it took much longer. The road was windy, slow going and tree lined. Awe, such hardships in such a scenic area, San Sebastian is off the main road by about 9 kilometers. Half paved or cemented but the part you remember is the cobble stone half, jostling you awake. This Pueblo Magico is a town well deserving of the title. A lovely, flower enhanced main square, a central gazebo with fancy scroll work and the mandatory steeple jutting up into the blue sky. We ate at a restaurant overlooking the main square on a veranda.

Of course it longer than expected to arrive onto the main highway to Puerto Vallarta. You arrive at the big, mulicoloured PV sign. At this point we drove to our destination of Los Arroyos Verdes in countryside Bucerias.
